Get in Touch with Your Creative Side

Hot Pot Pottery

At The House of Bread we run Hot Pot Pottery so you can get in touch with your creative side while you are here!

We are currently re-opening our pottery activities. While we are not fully operational yet you can book Pottery Trial Classes (from Sat 1st Aug),  Take Away Pottery Painting Kits are available for overnight hire and use at holiday accommodation & our Pottery Gallery/Shop can be hired for a private browsing session (no pressure to buy!).

Our popular pottery trial classes are great fun and are in our well-equipped studio and last 2-2.5 hours depending on the group size.

We take 2-8 people (min. class size =2) and they can be booked on a Thurs or Sat (10.30am start). Classes cost £40.00 per person plus £17.50 (between you) for on-ward delivery of any pots you leave for us to glaze and fire for you (if required).

Due to Covid-19 we have had to make many changes to our studio and how the classes run. We now have 4 work areas each designed to be shared by 2 people who don’t need to distance from each other.

We still offer you the chance to try 3 pottery techniques (wheel throwing, pinch pots & tiles) and leave up to 3 favourite pieces each for glazing and firing with a choice of house glazes but our ability to provide ‘hands on’ help is more limited. We have produced 2 on-line videos (Throwing on The Wheel & Pinch Pots & Tiles) to help with this and give you an idea of what to expect from the class. We hope you like them!

At present our ability to allow other people in the studio purely to observe while a class is underway is limited. Please contact us if you want to bring others with you who are not participating. Dogs are also usually very welcome but due to the current situation, please contact us if you wish to bring your dog into our studio.

Pottery Painting Kits

Ever fancied painting a plate, mug or piggy bank? We have a range of pre-fired pottery blanks for you to have fun painting.

At the moment we can’t offer pottery painting in our studio so we have put together some great take-away pottery painting kits  which you can hire overnight Wed-Sat. Each kit is suitable for use by up to 4 people (min group size = 2).

Pottery painting costs £6.50 per person plus the cost of the piece(s) you choose from our range (£4.75 £10.50) plus a £20 deposit (cash) per kit.

We fire on a Sunday and collection is from 9.30am Monday morning. If a firing is not due while you are here/you are not able to collect then delivery is £17.50 between you for a box(es) one UK address.

Hiring Our Pottery Gallery/Shop For A Private Browsing Session

You can book a private gallery/shop browsing session in our newly created gallery area (with no pressure to buy!). Please Contact us via email or phone if you wish to book a slot.

Due to social distancing and the intimate nature of our pottery gallery/shop, browsing sessions will be offered to one individual, family, household or bubble at a time and we will leave you to browse unaccompanied (on trust!).

Hand-wash and sanitiser facilities are available if you wish to pick pottery up and the gallery is cleaned and sanitised after every visit.
